Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield

Each December, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield sponsors Variety’s annual Children’s Christmas Party at the Highmark auditorium in downtown Pittsburgh.  This free holiday celebration is open to all Variety children and their families and fills the auditorium to capacity with more than 250 people in attendance each year. 

Children are treated to visits from Frosty the Snowman, the Highmark Caring Cub and the jolly man himself, Santa Claus!  Variety’s kids also enjoy holiday themed arts and crafts such as decorating ornaments or coloring their very own Christmas treat bags. 

Variety families are also treated to performances from the CLO Mini Stars and the New Horizons, as they entertain with a medley of popular Christmas songs and dance. 

Lunch is generously donated by Parkhurst Dining Services, and afterwards the children are escorted to visit Santa Claus where they can take photos with him and receive a special gift/toy, courtesy of our dear friend Variety Board Member Gregory Triko and his “elves.”

Highmark volunteers along with our Variety Young Professionals and volunteers from FedEx Ground help with registration, gift bags, toy distribution, and photos with Santa. We thank all of them for their time and energy, and most importantly, we are grateful to Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield for their sponsorship of this popular holiday party.
