It is our privilege to introduce you to Jackie Evancho. She is a 10 year-old songbird with an “old soul” sound and gift of visual interpretation she shares with audiences. From a remarkably young age, Jackie has had amazing control of her voice, a rich timbre to her sound and beautiful tonal quality.
In January, 2008, Jackie’s mom bought the newly released "Phantom of the Opera" DVD. It was watched so often it had to be replaced. Jackie would spontaneously sing the songs from the movie around the house constantly. Jackie’s mother was amazed at the quality of Jackie’s singing voice and asked Jackie if she wanted to participate in a regional talent competition. Jackie was enthusiastic about giving it a try. Her parent’s entered Jackie into the competition not planning for what was about to begin.
At the tender age of seven, Jackie sang her little heart out through first rounds and semi-finals, singing "Think of Me" and winning "audience choice" both times. For the finals, she sang "WishingYou Were Somehow Here Again" beating out 183other contestants for the first-runner-up spot! Asthe youngest contestant in the competition,Jackie came in 2nd behind the judge’s choice of a 20 year old operasinger.
Jackie recently performed live on-stage at Prudential Center in Newark with the David Foster andFriends Concert Tour and has performed a solo for conductor/composer Tim Janis and WQED for their PBS special to air in March 2010.
With the launch of her debut CD, Prelude to a Dream, Jackie is already an international recording star selling albums in Belgium, Sweden, Finland and Norway. Although she can perform to perfection in many different musical genres, Jackie aspires to a singing career in one of the fastest growing genres in the recording industry, Classical Crossover. Jackie's CD is available on CDbaby as well as all the digital download sites, her fan forum, and YouTube channel. You can purchase Jackie’s CD today $15 (with $5 from each sale going to Variety’s kids).
